HC Deb 24 April 1978 vol 948 cc413-5W
37. Miss Joan Lestor

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what advice is currently being given to the British Overseas Trade Board regarding financial support for trade missions to South Africa.

Mr. Dell

The British Overseas Trade Board's financial support for trade missions to South Africa is in line with the policy set out in the then Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary's statement of 4th December 1974 that the usual range of export services would remain available as for markets of equal commercial standing.

Miss Joan Lestor

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if Her Majesty's Government will now review the policy of Export Credits Guarantee Department cover for transactions with South Africa.

Mr. Dell

I refer my hon. Friend to my answer earlier today to the hon. Member for Sheffield, Heeley (Mr. Hooley).
