asked the Secretary of State for Energy how much of the Loch Indaal sedimentary basin lies within the boundaries of the United Kingdom Continental Shelf; and how much in the Continental Shelf of the Irish Republic.

There is no agreed boundary between the Continental Shelves of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. About 25 per cent. of the Loch Indaal Basin lies within the area designated by Orders-in-Council made under the Continental Shelf Act 1964.
