Leisure Centres (Licensing)

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the councils in Northern Ireland which opposed the licensing of council leisure centres and those which supported such licensing proposals.

During the consultative period following the publication on 31st January 1978 of the proposals for a draft licensing order representations were received from the following district councils:

• Banbridge District Council
• Castlereagh Borough Council
• Larne Borough Council
• Magherafelt District Council
• Moyle District Council
• North Down Borough Council

opposing the proposal to allow the licensing of council operated leisure centres, and representations supporting the proposal from:

• Belfast City Council, and
• Down District Council
