HC Deb 24 April 1978 vol 948 cc478-9W
Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many old homes have been improved and modernised with the benefit of improvement grants for each year since 1970; and what has been the total sum of money involved for each year.

Mr. Armstrong

Assistance towards the conversion, improvement and repair of 118,900 dwellings was approved in England during 1977. Grants for private owners totalled £81.4 million and the admissible costs of public sector renovation work totalled £302 million. Figures for earlier years appear in table 29 of Housing and Construction Statistics, copies of which are available in the Library.
