HC Deb 24 April 1978 vol 948 c485W
Mr. Farr

asked the Secretary of State for Employment, in the case of those certificates and licences for the issue which he has responsibility, whether the fees for issue have been increased by a greater amount or a greater percentage than that represented by a rise from £2.50 in 1973 to £13 in 1978.

Mr. Harold Walker

The annual licence fee under the Employment Agencies Act 1973 has been £72 since the Act came into force on 1st July 1976. It is being increased by £24 or 33½ per cent. from 1st June 1978.

My right hon. Friend has overall responsibility for the Health and Safety Commission and Executive. A variety of certificates and licences are issued by the different inspectorates within the Executive under the relevant satutory provisions of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. I am accordingly asking the Executive to make a detailed examination of all their charges in order to provide the required information, I will publish this in the Official Report as soon as possible.
