§ Mr. Evelyn Kingasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement in the matter of expected redundancies at the Admiralty Underwater Weapons Establishment at Portland.
§ Dr. GilbertAs a result of staff reductions and restructuring to meet its changing role, the AUW Establishment expects that a small number of professional and technology officers will become surplus to its requirements over the next one or two years. We expect to redeploy all the staff concerned within the Ministry of Defence and therefore no question of redundancies should arise. There has been full consultation on these matters through the local Whitley machinery.
