§ Mr Lawsonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the revenue cost, additional to the cost of proposals made in the Budget, of instituting a scale of income tax at the upper rates in which taxable income between 387W £8,000 and £10,000 was taxed at 40 per cent., between £10,000 and £14,000 at 50 per cent., between £14,000 and £21,000 at 60 per cent and over £21,000 at 70 per cent.
