§ Mr. Gregor MacKenzieA major objective of the Government's economic policies is to reduce unemployment throughout the United Kingdom, including the Western Isles. In recent years the Western Isles has benefited considerably from the Government's special measures for the unemployed, especially the young people. The new youth opportunities programme and special temporary employment programme schemes now started will, I believe, be of considerable benefit to the area.
