§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Minister of Overseas Development what are the proposed total amounts of aid to be given by her Department to (a) Commonwealth countries and (b) other countries over the next five years.
§ Mrs. HartOn present expectations about the final outturn of the aid programme in 1977 about £260 million of our bilateral aid will have gone to Commonwealth countries and about £86.5 million to other countries. A further £37 million was not allocated to specific countries but went mainly to functional technical co-operation organisations which operate regionally for the benefit of both Commonwealth and other countries. It is not the practice to publish forward forecasts, but I have no reason 175W to expect that the 1977 proportions will change significantly, though the amounts will increase from year to year with a growing programme.
