§ Mr. OakesIn the financial year 1976–77, the latest year for which figures are available, United Kingdom current and capital expenditure from public funds on education, libraries, science and arts amounted to 7.4 per cent of the gross national product, at factor cost, or 6.7 per cent. excluding grants to universities.
