HC Deb 17 April 1978 vol 948 c6W
Mr. Wyn Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the current numerical strength of the police forces in Wales compared with April 1977 and April 1976.

Dr. Summerskill

The figures are:

number of suspensions averaged over a year would be about £750,000 for England and Wales, of which about £400,000 would be in respect of those suspended as a result of complaints by the public. Information about the length of time for which suspensions occur is not readily available.
