§ Mr. Brocklebank-Fowlerasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many unemployed in West Norfolk have found secure full-time employment after completing local courses run by the Training Services Agency.
§ Mr. GoldingI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the only centre it uses in West Norfolk is the Norfolk College of Art and Technology at King's Lynn. The only information available is that obtained from a survey of trainees completing clerical/commercial, preparatory and building operation courses at that college in the academic year September 1976–July 1977, which showed that of the 65 trainees who completed training during this period, 34 or 51 per cent. were known to be in employment three months after completion. Separate figures for those in part-time and full-time employment and for those trainees unemployed prior to training are not available.
§ Mr. Brocklebank-Fowlerasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many 549W unemployed in West Norfolk have attended training courses run by the Training Services Agency; and how many have completed the courses satisfactorily.
§ Mr. GoldingI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that information in the form requested could only be obtained at disproportionate cost. The Commission has, however, supplied the following information on the West Norfolk area
During the academic year 1976–77, 74 TOPS trainees attend courses at the Norfolk College of Art and Technology, King's Lynn, of whom 65 completed courses. The area is served by the Norwich and Peterborough skillcentres which offer a total of 268 training places.
