Roads (Expenditure) (Hansard, 14 April 1978)

§ Mr. Geoffrey Johnson Smith
asked the Secretary of State for Transport what the present level of annual expenditure on road maintenance represents in terms of the total value of the trunk and local authority road network.

§ Mr. William Rodgers
The Department does not make an estimate of the total value of the road network; the conceptual and practical problems of making such an estimate were discussed in the 1968 Ministry of Transport report "Road Track Costs".

§ Mr. Geoffrey Johnson Smith
asked the Secretary of State for Transport what are the figures for expenditure on trunk and local authority road construction and 559W maintenance for all the English economic regions in the last 10 years.
