HC Deb 14 April 1978 vol 947 c544W
Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the average United Kingdom manufacturing male wage at the latest available date.

Mr. Golding

The Department of Employment's annual survey in October 1977 shows that the average gross weekly earnings of men aged 21 and over, employed on a full-time basis in manual occupations in manufacturing industries in the United Kingdom, was £72.89. The estimate includes men paid for only part of the working week.
