HC Deb 14 April 1978 vol 947 c539W
Mr. Wrigglesworth

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if he will list any changes that have been made to the allocation of capital grants by his Department to consumer advice centres from that announced on 22nd February in answer to a Question from the hon. Member for Goole (Dr. Marshall).

Mr. John Fraser

My Department has been able to provide capital grants to a further six centres. The centres are as follows:

  • Strathclyde Regional Council—East Kilbride and Glasgow (St. Enoch Sq).
  • West Midlands Citizens Advice Bureau Area Office—Walsall and West Midlands Mobile
  • London Borough of Lambeth—Mobile
  • London Borough of Haringey—Wood Green
Five of these are new centres. The grant to the Glasgow centre is for improvements.

I regret that Highlands Regional Council, the London borough of Barnet and Walsall District Council felt unable to take up my Department's offer of grant for centres in Fort William, Inverness, Wick, Barnet and Walsall.
