HC Deb 13 April 1978 vol 947 c493W
Sir Bernard Braine

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is the maximum size of oil tankers permitted to enter the Thames Estuary fully laden.

Mr. Clinton Davis

Ships with a draught not exceeding 45 feet enter the Thames Estuary. This is equivalent to a fully laden oil tanker of about 100,000 deadweight tons though larger tankers partly laden enter the estuary.
