HC Deb 13 April 1978 vol 947 cc535-6W
Mr. Warren

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement about the progress of the workings of the United States-United Kingdom memorandum of understanding of September 1975 concerning defence sales and give a list of the items sold against this memorandum and the value of each contract.

Dr. Gilbert

Both Governments have taken steps to see that the Memorandum of Understanding is properly implemented. Since the memorandum was signed an increasing number of United Kingdom firms have been vigorously marketing their products in the United States and competing for orders. Some successes have already been achieved. It has been the policy of successive Government not to divulge details of defence contracts secured from abroad.
