HC Deb 12 April 1978 vol 947 c462W
Mr. Wrigglesworth

asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will arrange that in future reports by transport users' consultative committees on proposals by the British Railways Board for rail passenger and shipping closures should be published.

Mr. William Rodgers

It has not previously been the practice to publish these reports, which were made in confidence, but my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection and I believe that such information about closure proposals should be made available to those concerned. In consultation with the Central Transport Consultative Committee, we have therefore decided that, for future closure proposals, the reports which the transport users' consultative committees make jointly to us should be made available no later than the time at which I announce my decision.
