§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he will specify the grounds on which Northern Ireland alone was excluded from any share of the additional £1 million made available to assist with the preservation of the national heritage which was announced on 26th October 1977, bearing in mind that the same importance is attached to preserving the national heritage in Northern Ireland as in Great Britain.
§ Mr. CarterThe £1 million to which my hon. Friend refers was allocated to the Department of Education and 413W Science for the preservation of national heritage in Great Britain. Separate funds are made available for this purpose in Northern Ireland through the Estimates of Northern Ireland Departments. It was not considered necessary to supplement those funds on this occasion.
