(5) how many unemployed residents of Newton-le-Willows register for employment at Warrington local area office.

Mr. Golding

Unemployment statistics cannot at present be compiled on a residential basis. The figures for employment office areas relate to unemployed persons who register for work at local offices within the area, regardless of where they live. At 9th March the numbers registered in the Ashton-in-Makerfield and Wigan employment office areas were 785 and 4,908, respectively.
