HC Deb 12 April 1978 vol 947 c439W
Mr. Reid

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what safety regulations currently govern hang-gliding in Scotland, and what guidance he has issued on the subject.

Mr. McElhone

The Scottish Sailwing Association, which is recognised by the Scottish Sports Council as the governing body for hang-gliding in Scotland, is affiliated to the British Hang-Gliding Association and operates under a code of practice laid down by that body. This code takes account of amenity, safety and environmental considerations, and is under constant review by the British Hang-Gliding Association in consultation with the Civil Aviation Authority and the Great Britain Sports Council.
