HC Deb 12 April 1978 vol 947 cc426-7W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what action is being taken to give financial support to poorer families, where special diets are required for diabetics; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Orme

I would refer by hon. Friend to my hon. Friend's reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Nelson and Colne (Mr. Hoyle) on 13th March.—(Vol 946, c.62.]

Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps are being taken to improve the method of administering insulin to patients suffering from diabetes; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moyle

Insulin must be administered by injection to be effective. The most appropriate route of injections and type of insulin to be given to patients suffering from diabetes is in each individual case a matter for the clinical judgment of the doctor concerned.
