§ Miss Margaret JacksonMy right hon. Friend has received correspondence from the hon. Member for Newbury (Mr. McNair-Wilson) and from 10 members of the public objecting to a proposal that Greenham Common base might be reactivated for use by American tanker aircraft. Concern has been expressed about the likely effect on schools in the area of potential hazards and disturbance from high noise levels.
The correspondence has been passed to the Secretary of State for Defence whose responsibility it will be to consider these matters.
