Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what were the numbers of unemployed persons in the Greater London area on the 28th February 1977 and on the 28th February, 1978 and what were the respective notified vacancies remaining unfilled at employment offices and careers offices on the same dates.

The vacancy figures relate only to vacancies notified to employment offices and careers offices and are not a measure of total vacancies. Because of possible duplication, they should not be added together.
