HL Deb 11 April 1978 vol 390 cc615-6WA
Lord ALDINGTON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the statement made by the Solicitor-General for Scotland that the Government had challenged the Sun Alliance pay settlement and challenged it so far successfully (Official Report, 28th February 1978, col. 364) meant that the Sun Alliance had been compelled to modify the terms of its pay settlement.

Lord McCLUSKEY

No. I am sorry that my comment should be open to that misunderstanding. The facts are that discussions are still taking place bemeen the Government and Sun Alliance concerning the pay settlement and any further action will depend on their outcome.

House adjourned at seventeen minutes past eleven o'clock.
