§ Mr. Robert Edwardsasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether the Government propose to introduce legislation to seek to enable a company takeover to take place only with the agreement of the workers or their representatives.
§ Mr. John FraserWe have no proposals to alter the position under the existing mergers control legislation whereby the Secretary of State may prohibit a takeover only where the Monopolies and Mergers Commission has found that it may be expected to operate against the public interest in general. However, 365W representations by workers are taken into account by my right hon.
