HC Deb 10 April 1978 vol 947 cc300-1W
Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what consultation took place with local employers in deciding the courses to be offered at the Kidbrooke and Charlton skillcentres.

Mr. Golding

The Manpower Services Commission informs me that it is not feasible to hold consultations with individual employers when planning the course mixes for new skillcentres. In the case of the Charlton skillcentre, and the linked Kidbrooke annexe, discussions about the courses to be provided took place initially with the MSC's employment service and were followed up with local organisations including the local authority, whose industrial liaison officer was kept in the picture as planning of the course mixes proceeded. The South-East London industrial consultative group, which includes representatives of local employers, has been kept informed of progress on the projects.
