§ Sir T. Kitsonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in view of Dutch elm disease in the northern counties, if his Department will co-ordinate 316W discussions between local authorities to ensure that each authority puts forward its programme of treatment.
§ Mr. StrangThe northern counties have set up a working group to co-ordinate policies in the fight against Dutch elm disease, on which all counties and metropolitan districts in the region are represented. Officials of the Forestry Commission attend meetings of the group and give advice on strategy. The Countryside Commission also plays an active part. This is a successful example of co-operation, which I welcome and encourage.
