§ Mr. Onslowasked the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will give an understanding that, notwithstanding its transfer from London to Lowestoft, his Department's salmon and freshwater fisheries unit will remain under the control of a freshwater scientist and continue to operate as a separate and identifiable research laboratory.
§ Mr. John SilkinThe reorganisation of my Department's salmon and freshwater research is designed to implement the recommendation of the Fisheries Research and Development Board that three should be the greatest possible integration between freshwater and marine fisheries R & D. The proposed arrangements will continue to provide for the separate identification of the requirements for freshwater fisheries R & D as commissioned by the chief scientist.
