Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) of those persons whom the Royal Ulster Constabulary wishes to question about murders committed in Northern Ireland during the last nine years, how many are now believed to be resident in the Republic of Ireland;

(2) of those persons who have (a) broken bail, or (b) escaped from prison or other detention centres in Northern Ireland during the last nine years, how many are believed to be resident in the Republic of Ireland;

(3) how many persons, now believed to be living in the Republic of Ireland, the Royal Ulster Constabulary wishes to question about terrorist type offences in Northern Ireland.

The number and whereabouts of persons whom the RUC wish to question about offences committed in Northern Ireland are operational matters for the Chief Constable.
