§ 29. Mr. Ovendenasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what level of grants he has approved in 1977–78 under Section 11 of the Local Government Act 1966; what is his estimate of the level for 1978–79; and if he is satisfied that the grants claimed are adequate to meet the needs of the areas concerned.
§ Dr. Summerskill£24,715,000 is provided in the Supplementary Estimates for the payment of grants to local authorities under Section 11 of the Local Government Act 1966 in 1977–78. The Supply Estimates for 1978–79 are to be published tomorrow, and it will be seen that it is proposed to provide £25,710,000 for Section 11 grants for that year. It is for eligible local authorities to determine an adequate level of expenditure and to submit claims in accordance with the guidance available to them.
