HC Deb 04 April 1978 vol 947 c116W
Mr. Peter Bottomley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what plans he has to implement the report of the Equal Opportunities Commission on income tax and sex discrimination.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

"Income Tax and Sex Discrimination" is a consultative document which sets out for discussion various options for changing the way in which married couples are taxed. It does not make specific recommendations. The Equal Opportunities Commission has asked individuals and organisations for comments on the document and my right hon. Friend looks forward to hearing from the Commission in due course what the response has been.
