HC Deb 04 April 1978 vol 947 c105W
Mr. Cormack

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has to build extensions or provide extra facilities at historic properties and ancient monuments in the care of his Department; and if he will place copies of all such plans in the Library.

Mr. Shore

Facilities for visitors at historic buildings and monuments in the care of my Department are kept under constant review, with a view to improving and extending them as necessary and as resources allow. Most of the schemes are small scale and uncontroversial, but the advice of the relevant appropriate advisory bodies is sought where issues of significance arise; and the local planning authority is always consulted on any new building.

I shall be pleased to arrange for plans of any particular schemes to be shown to any hon. Member on request, but in view of the large number of small-scale schemes at various stages of preparation it is impracticable to place them all on display in the Library.
