HC Deb 03 April 1978 vol 947 c50W
Mr. Brotherton

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the total cost to public funds of fees, out-of-pocket and travelling expenses and loss of earnings to members of (a) the Ostrich and Fancy Feather and Artificial Flower Wages Council, (b) the Pin, Hook, Eye and Snap Fastener Wages Council, and (c) the Corset Wages Council.

Mr. John Grant

Payments made in respect of the last meeting of each of these councils were:

(2) if he will ensure that top priority is given to the North-West Region in the decision about where the Health and Safety Commission is to be located, and particularly to the needs of the Skelmersdale New Town and of Merseyside.

Mr. John Grant

I have had no discussions with the Manpower Services Commission, but the Health and Safety Commission is currently considering its future location and that of the Health and Safety Executive at my request. I cannot yet say when it will be possible to announce a decision.

In reaching a decision, the needs of North-West Region including Skelmersdale New Town and Merseyside will be considered along with those of other areas of high unemployment.
