HC Deb 03 April 1978 vol 947 cc69-70W
18. Mr. Kinnock

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he is satisfied with the level of hospital bed provision in Gwent and Mid-Glamorgan and what proposals he has to increase that provision.

Mr. Barry Jones

There are local shortages of beds in Gwent and Mid-Glamorgan in certain specialties, but the coming into use of the Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil and the recent completion of another stage in the redevelopment of the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport will help overcome these. Development at St. Woolos Hospital in Newport and in the longer term at the Royal Gwent will bring further improvement.
