HC Deb 03 April 1978 vol 947 cc70-1W
Sir Raymond Gower

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what shortages of doctors exist in the general practitioner service in Wales; and whether there has been any recent improvement.

Mr. Barry Jones

We have no evidence of any general shortage, although the ratio of doctors to patients varies as between areas. The total number of general medical practitioners in Wales has increased from 1,314 in 1972 to 1,389 in 1977.
