HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 c752W
Mr. Lomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will ensure that in every pension book there is inserted a leaflet showing the welfare benefits to which pensioners are entitled, and showing the local address where they should apply.

Mr. Orme:

All pension order books already contain notes on help with National Health Service charges, social health and welfare services and supplementary pensions. Advice is also given in the order books on how to obtain further information. Since pension order books are prepared centrally it is impracticable to enclose leaflets giving local arrangements and addresses, but there are already arrangements whereby, at the request of local authorities, social security offices enclose leaflets with the notification of awards of pension sent to new pensioners.
