HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 cc698-9W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Lord Advocate when he expects to receive the recommendations of the Scottish Law Commission on the Law of Diligence; and if he will make a statement, particularly in relation to warrant sales.

The Lord Advocate:

The Scottish Law Commission is still looking at the subject of warrant sales in the course of its examination of the law of diligence. It has also commissioned a research project into some factual and sociological aspects of the working of the present law, including warrant sales. It is not possible of say when its review will be completed as progress will depend on the available resources. Before issuing a report, the Commission's practice is to consult the public, and it does this by a system of consultative documents. It is hoped that the first of these will be published early next year.
