asked Her Majesty's Government:

  1. (i) how many special quota vouchers were issued to and taken up by United 1228 Kingdom passport holders respectively in the calendar year 1976, and in 1977 to the latest convenient date;
  2. (ii) what has been the average waiting period since the date of application for United Kingdom passport holders in India who received vouchers during the present calendar year to the latest convenient date, and what is the number of applications by heads of household received by the High Commission in India, but not yet granted, as at the latest convenient date.
  3. (iii) how many applications have been made in each of the last five years for registration as a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies under Section (1) of the British Nationality Act 1964 by persons who had renounced citizenship of the United Kingdom and Colonies; how many of these applicants were successful, how many lacked the qualifying connection specified in the Act and how many of the applications from persons lacking the qualifying connection were granted at the discretion of the Secretary of State.
