HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 c843W
17. Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the progress of the Belgrade Conference.

Mr. Luard:

The Belgrade CSCE follow-up meeting began on the 4th of October, since when it has followed the working programme agreed at the preparatory meeting. The opening plenary stage of the meeting has now been completed, and the subsidiary bodies have begun their work. My right hon. and noble Friend the Minister of State attended the first week of the meeting, and on 6th October made an opening statement for the United Kingdom. The meeting has so far been businesslike, and the Government have every hope that it will continue to approach its tasks in this spirit.
