HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 c671W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the reason for the Treasury's Deputy Chief Economic Adviser leaving his situation; what salary and other emoluments he received; how these compared with those of his predecessor; what is the salary of his successor; and whether this falls within the Government's incomes policy.

Mr. Robert Sheldon:

Mr. Maynard has resigned in order to take up an appointment with the Chase Manhatten Bank. Like his predecessor, he was paid at the Deputy Secretary rate, currently £14,000 per annum plus a supplement of £208.80 per annum. His successor, when appointed, will be paid at the same rate. No conflict with the Government's incomes policy arises.
