HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 c871W
Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what action will be taken arising from the Thomson Report on Procedure.

Mr. Harry Ewing:

As my right hon. Friend indicated in his reply of 28th February 1977—[Vol. 927, c. 3]—to my hon. Friend the Member for Glasgow, Pollok (Mr. White), he is examining the possibilities of legislation in the field of criminal justice, including certain of the proposals in the Thomson Report. My right hon. Friend will make a further announcement in due course. Other recommendations of the report are being implemented administratively or by judges in the exercise of their judicial discretion.
