HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 c832W
Mr. Ashley

asked the Attorney-General how many cases have been brought under the provisions of the Congenital Disabilities (Civil Liability) Act 1976 since it came into effect; how many awards have been made; what has been the value of these awards; and if he will make a statement.

The Solicitor-General:

No statistical record is kept of the precise nature of causes of action, and accordingly I regret that none of this information is available. It could be obtained only by examining the records in the High Court and every district registry and county court registry and scrutinising the pleadings of every action arising from personal injury; and the cost of this would be disproportionate.
