HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 c734W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many beds are available at the Central Middlesex Hospital; when the maximum complement will be available following recent repair work; how many beds were used in the last year to a convenient date for operative and post-operative surgery on hernias and varicose veins; and how many bed-days this involved.

Mr. Moyle

590 beds are currently available, but this number will fluctuate until completion of the up-grading programme in 1983 when there will be 657 beds. During the period 1st July 1976 to 30th June 1977 there were 344 operative and post-operative cases of surgery on hernias and varicose veins involving 2,824 bed-days.
