HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 cc781-2W
Mr. Cockcroft

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish a White Paper on the recommendations of the Annan Report, taking account of the criticisms of the report by local radio stations and groups representing local interests.

Mr. Merlyn Rees:

I have not yet decided on the form in which to announce the Government's proposals on the future structure of broadcasting which I shall in due course be putting before Parliament. In studying the Annan Report and in formulating proposals I shall give careful consideration to the criticisms referred to by the hon. Gentleman, along with all the other comments which I have received on the report.
