Member for Norfolk, North, Official Report, 26th October, column 873, if he will now estimate the overall net cost of guaranteeing to every unemployed adult a job at £40 a week, after taking into account increased revenue from national insurance contribution and from income tax.
§ Mr. GoldingIt is estimated that to pay every adult person at present unemployed in Great Britain a wage of £40 a week, after taking into account increased revenue from national insurance contributions and from income tax, would cost about £1,700 million. There would also be other costs—e.g., for administration, materials, etc.
