§ 27. Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in the light of the case of Sergeant William Jamieson of Bo'ness, he will enter into discussions with the Scottish Police Federation with a view to allowing it to continue to help its members who have been convicted in a civil court.
§ Mr. Harry EwingI have had no representations from the Scottish Police Federation on this or any other aspect of the case of Sergeant William Jamieson, but I am always ready to listen to what it has to say. An examination of the rights and duties of the Police Federations will, however, fall within the terms of reference of the Committee of Inquiry under Lord Edmund-Davies and I expect that such matters as those which my hon. Friend has raised will be looked at in that context.
