Mr. Forman

asked the Secretary of State for Energy (1) which member or members of the Energy Commission have been appointed with a view to including people who have a primary interest in alternative energy sources and energy saving in public or private buildings, respectively;

(2) whether the Energy Commission is able to consider submissions from organisations outside the existing energy industries, Government and the trade unions.

Sir William Hawthorne has been appointed to the Energy Commission in his capacity as Chairman of the Advisory Council on Energy Conservation, which deals with all aspects of energy saving. No member has been appointed as having a primary interest in alternative energy sources. The Commission will be able, at its discretion, to consider submissions from any organisation or individual.
