Mr. Lomas

asked the Minister for the Civil Service how many Government Departments have moved to West Yorkshire in the last five years; and if he will state the name of the Department and the location.

In the five years ended 30th September 1977, 520 Inland Revenue posts were dispersed from London to West Yorkshire to the following locations:

Bradford, 158; Leeds, 51; Shipley, 311. These figures do not include 239 Inland Revenue posts established in West Yorkshire in the period stated as a result of the policy of locating new Government offices away from London whenever possible.
