HC Deb 29 November 1977 vol 940 c110W
Mr. Weitzman

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether mentally handicapped persons, adults or children, are dealt with in all respects as physically handicapped persons; if they are differentiated in any way; what are the differences; and what are the reasons for such differentiation.

Mr. Moyle

It would not be appropriate for mentally handicapped people to be provided with identical services to those for physically handicapped people as their needs differ. My concern is that the needs of all handicapped people, whatever their handicap, are met in the most appropriate way. If my hon. Friend has any particular case in mind, I would be glad to consider it.
